Our Partners

Personally how did it help? Just coming and feeling ‘normal-ish’. Having a positive and constructive dialogue with a range of different people. It’s probably as close to having a job outside as anything else and to real life because of time management, which is good especially if I compare it with my cell mate who has now been stuck in the cell for 8 weeks.

Liberty Kitchen couldn’t happen without the help of its partners and supporters. Its principle partner is Pentonville Prison which provides the staff canteen kitchen facility within the prison, custodial supervision and a range of other support from selection to security clearance, logistics and lots more! It also would never have happened without the generous funding for our 6 month pilot programme. So a HUGE thanks to:

Our Funders

The Drapers Charitable Fund, the Royal Society of Arts, The Worshipful Company of Weavers, The Hollick Family Charitable Trust, UnLtd and personal donations from individuals.

A special thanks to Philippa Davis for her nose to tail help and inspiration. Philippa is a top international private chef and food writer who has cooked in some of London’s best restaurants before setting up and running the award-winning café for Mudchute city Farm, a charity on the Isle of Dogs. Her work as a private chef takes her all over the world cooking for a long list of high profile clients. Philippa has been involved with Liberty Kitchen since the early stages and has helped develop and launch the project as well as providing ongoing advice, training and support.

Business training is delivered by NWES/Enterprise for London which works with the men to build their ability to set up in business and secure an NVQ Level 1 in enterprise. Having seen how self employment is a viable choice for those leaving prison it has developed a targeted course to help men consider their options with ‘real’ businessmen providing advice on what it takes with loans, entity, tax and staffing all covered.

Other partners include: Roast and Blooming Scent Café; Fredericks Foundation; Step Together and Switchback - all of whom provide different support upon release. And lots - and lots - of help and through the gate ‘back up’ from market owners including, The Spread, Lassco/Maltby, Kerb, Camden Council and StreetDots.
